This concert reimagines the Cole Porter songbook through the rich, expressive sound of Americana Roots music—featuring arrangements for fiddle, mandolin, pedal steel, acoustic guitar, upright bass, accordion, and piano.

Performers include esteemed Berklee faculty and/or alumni: creator/arranger Janie Barnett, Rich Hinman, Sara Caswell, Mark Shilansky, Dan Bui, Gary Schreiner, and Boston's own Marty Ballou. Guest duet partners will include vocalists from Berklee's Voice Department.

This performance features the arrangements of Associate Professor Janie Barnett, whose 2023 album, Under My Skin: Reimagining Cole Porter, offers a fresh Americana take on the Great American Songbook. A Grammy-nominated, award-winning producer, Barnett has enjoyed a decades-long career as a recording artist in the Americana genre and is a sought-after session singer in New York City, contributing to film, television, and background vocals. For over 20 years, she has mentored singer-songwriters at Berklee with the same creative spirit that infuses her music.
