Berklee Global Jazz Institute Now Accepting Applications
The Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI) is now accepting applications for admission for all instruments and voice. Berklee students who play non-traditional instruments—or region-specific instruments from around the world—are strongly encouraged to apply. Students may pursue a performance degree, diploma, or a two-year certificate through the BGJI.
What is the Berklee Global Jazz Institute?
The Berklee Global Jazz Institute is a performance program designed to foster creativity and musicianship through various musical disciplines. World-renowned pianist Danilo Perez is the program’s artistic director. The BGJI provides a comprehensive contemporary music environment where students are given the opportunity to explore their creativity at the highest level possible. The BGJI is designed to help students with unique talent and wide-ranging musical interests achieve their artistic goals in a new experiential program.
Who is teaching at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute?
Students at the BGJI will be mentored by world-renowned visiting artists through various seminars and directed study. The BGJI students will also benefit from an innovative interdisciplinary curriculum taught by a select group of prestigious Berklee College of Music faculty, including Danilo Perez, Joe Lovano, John Patitucci, Terri Lyne Carrington, George Garzone, Allan Chase, and David Gilmore. Artists-in-residence for this semester include Ben Street, David Liebman, Alan Pasqua, Adam Cruz, and Brian Blade.
How can I apply to the Berklee Global Jazz Institute?
To be considered for the BGJI, a student must have successfully completed one year at Berklee or the equivalent and must submit an application online here. Individuals selected as finalists will be asked to participate in a live audition on September 9 and an interview on September 10.
