Eight Alumni Nominated for 17 Latin Grammy Awards

Juan Luis Guerra, Tommy Torres, Gustavo Bonner Among Latin Grammy Nominees

October 4, 2012

Eight Berklee alumni are nominated for 17 Latin Grammy Awards across six categories.  Juan Luis Guerra leads all Latin Grammy nominees with six nods in a number of major categories including two for Record of the Year and two for Song of the Year.  Guerra is a twelve-time Latin Grammy Award winner.  Alumni Tommy Torres, Matt Rollings, and Gustavo Bonner are also nominees in multiple categories.

Some alumni are nominated for the same award. For Record of the Year, eight are nominated for producing, mixing, or engineering six of the 10 nominated works. Other categories with multiple alumni nominees are Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Producer of the Year. The Best Instrumental Album and Best Producer categories each contain one nominated alumnus.

Winners will be announced at the 13th annual Latin Grammy Awards ceremony, November 15, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.  The Univision Network will broadcast the proceedings live at 8:00 p.m. EST.

Since the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences founded the awards in 2000, 19 Berklee alumni or professors have received 56 Latin Grammy Awards.
