Derek Deyon is the founding attorney of the Deyon Law Group, P.L.L.C. In this capacity, Derek handles all aspects of entertainment law including entertainment transactions and litigation. To date, Derek has negotiated music production and publishing agreements between clients and Lloyd Banks of G-Unit Records, Day 26 of Bad Boy Records, Jacob Latimore of Jive Records, and Teddy Riley. Derek also advised George Clinton on how to reclaim his music publishing catalogue. Derek earned a B.M. in Music Business & Management from the Berklee College of Music in 2003, and a J.D., cum laude from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 2010. As a law student, Derek wrote as an editor of the Thurgood Marshall Law Review, won first place in the Black Entertainment & Sports Lawyers Association’s 6th Annual Scholarship Legal Writing Competition, and earned a CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Sports Law. Derek is a member of the Texas State Bar and C.L.E.O., among other organizations.
