City Hall Honors MP/E Professor

Boston City Councilor Charles Yancey welcomed Prince Charles Alexander, associate professor of music production and engineering, at Boston City Hall to honor him for personifying Boston's contributions to the recording industry from his successful career and the body of work it represents. Alexander accepted the official resolution on January 14, 2009. He is a multi-platinum recording and mixing engineer whose production credits include Mary J. Blige, Destiny's Child, Faith Evans, Boyz II Men, Puff Daddy, Notorious B.I.G., Salt-N-Pepa, Brandy, Babyface, Sting, Aretha Franklin, Maxi Priest, Mint Condition, Spearhead, Brian McKnight, Usher, Jodeci, and Heavy D & the Boyz, among others.  

Yancey also issued a resolution to another Bostonian who is widely recognized for his work in music. Tony Rose, who currently works with Alexander on recording projects, is an award-winning recording producer and engineer whose work with the New Kids on the Block topped the charts in the 1980s. Rose is also a publisher and an author, with a new book, Before the Legend: The Rise of New Kids On The Block and . . . A Guy Named Maurice Starr—The Early Years.

Alexander and Rose are both natives of Boston.
