WUMB and Berklee: Fox Point Music Series

The Dwells (guitar and voice)

Sunday, August 52:00 p.m.

The Dwells are a vocal swirl, drenched in memorable lyrics and infectious songwriting. Members Paige Califano and Matthew Bean share a passion for visual and performance arts and incorporate experimentation into their music. For their debut album, they collaborated with musician and sound designer Max Jeffers to develop a unique listening experience through creative recording techniques. Following in the tradition of duos like Carter-Cash, Parsons-Harris, and Welch-Rawlings, the Dwells journey through genres and weave a new stitch in the warm world of acoustic music.

Adrianne Lenker (guitar and voice)

Sunday, August 12, 2:00 p.m.

Hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Berklee alumna Adrianne Lenker is an authentic and passionate singer, songwriter, and performer. Her debut CD Stages of the Sun, produced by Steve Hodge (Janet Jackson, Sting), was released on LucidTunes in 2005 when Lenker was only 14. She was a top 5 finalist in the Independent Music Awards (Singer/Songwriter category), and a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition. Tracks from the album were also featured on MTV's The Hills. Lenker's next CD/DVD, Live at the Southern, was recorded at the Southern Theater in Minneapolis, followed by Then the Rain Came.

Herego (guitar, violin and voice)

Sunday, August 19, 2:00 p.m.

Herego is an indie/folk/rock duo self-described as "Simon and Garfunkel meets Tim Burton meets your mother." Erin Casey had come to a creative standstill, so she left small town life and traveled to Boston. At the same time, Chris Carlberg left acting behind in Los Angeles in search of a musical passion he felt was calling. Packing up every instrument he owned, he also landed in Boston. Together, Casey and Carlberg began a journey that spanned broken strings and broken relationships, first forming a solid friendship, and then a brilliant musical duo.

Carly Tefft (guitar, djembe and voice)

Sunday, August 26, 2:00 p.m.

Carly Tefft is an 18-year-old singer-songwriter from Cape Cod, who counts the Police, Carol King, Gavin DeGraw, Jason Mraz, and Colbie Calliat as inspirations. Tefft, a Berklee student, puts a contemporary and alternative spin on the singer-songwriter genre. She began writing songs in high school, and by graduation had released a self-produced EP, on which she played all of the instruments (drums, bass, guitar, piano, and vocals). Tefft plans to release a five-song EP, Loud and Clear, in 2012.
