At Berklee, the flowering cherry trees outside aren't the only springtime display. Singers Showcase, the college's premier concert for outstanding student vocalists, returned for its 26th year on April 15.
Produced by the Yo Team, it showcased eight of Berklee's most talented singers as well as myriad dancers, instrumentalists, and production crew members. A variety of musical styles were represented, ranging from pop and rock to r&b, hip-hop, and jazz.
An awards ceremony honored three outstanding students for their achievements in performing or arranging: Mario Jose, Naomi Gillies, and William Wells. All three participated in the concert, as well.
As if all that weren't enough, the night got an extra splash of soul when special guest Ben E. King joined the students onstage to perform two of his greatest hits: "Spanish Harlem" and "Stand by Me."
