As part of our efforts to help orient you to Berklee, the Office of Faculty Development has planned a two-day New Hire Orientation for Monday, August 22, and Tuesday, August 23, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day. During this orientation, we will have time set aside to provide you with practical information concerning your new position and answer any pending questions you may have for us. New Hire Orientation will also feature technology training where you will be given your email and access to our websites and learning management systems, attend breakout sessions with a focus on pedagogy and classroom management, hear from the Office of Faculty Development and seniors leaders, and receive information about student services and accessibility. Please note that faculty will not be compensated for attending this orientation.

This session will offer up some suggested “best practices” that incorporate concepts of universal design for learning (UDL) and can help build a sense of community. After a formal presentation, we will have a discussion and you are invited to contribute your experiences and ideas for inclusion and belonging.

This session will explore the important relationships between and among objectives, teaching strategies, and assessment tools as they relate to student outcomes.
