Full Biography

Jazzy Christophe is a Mauritian saxophonist, composer, and percussionist currently based in Boston. He started playing the djembe drum at the age of five and the saxophone at eight at Mo’Zar Espace Artistique, an organization dedicated to empowering children from low-income communities by combating social exclusion through jazz music. By the age of eleven, he commenced international touring with the school’s ensemble, performing at renowned jazz festivals such as the Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy, Havana Jazz festival in Cuba, and Rio Das Ostras Jazz and Blues Festival in Brazil.

His musical style, Segazz, is a distinctive fusion of jazz and Sega, the traditional music of Mauritius, seamlessly integrating the improvisational essence of jazz with the vibrant, rhythmic heritage of his homeland.
