A multifaceted pianist, improviser, and composer, Naomi Nakanishi is currently based in Boston, pursuing her master’s degree at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute. Her background in classical and folk repertoire deeply influence her sound today through her ethereal and groove-oriented compositions. As an activist, she implements intersectional practices through her organization, Women Mean Business, celebrating femme/nonbinary musicians. She has performed at major festivals such as the Rochester International Jazz Festival and the Panama Jazz Festival, and is the recipient of Jazz Education Network’s Hal Leonard Scholarship. Nakanishi continually strives to cultivate enriching musical experiences for all.
The NLP Trio will perform at Spectacle Island on August 29 as part of the Summer in the City concert series.
