Ricky Matute's music creates a dialogue between traditional folk music from his home country, Colombia, and traditions from other parts of the world. In his compositions, Matute showcases Colombian folk drums, mixing them with jazz harmony, grooves, and instrumentation from Africa, North America, and Latin America, along with electronic elements like synths, loops, and triggers. Bringing together different cultures through music, Ricky’s objective is to spread a message of unity and to remind people that we are all part of the same human race. His repertoire includes originals and arrangements of songs by Stevie Wonder and Sting, in a world music style.
