Darrell Katz and OddSong
OddSong is a unique chamber jazz group with a saxophone quartet, marimba, violin, and voice. The music is adventurous, colorful, and eclectic, with wide-ranging stylistic influences referencing anything from James Taylor to Sun Ra and a focus on collective improvisation. The band features music composed and arranged by Darrell Katz (director of the Jazz Composers Alliance) with additional music by Helen Sherrah-Davies.
OddSong was formed in 2015 and has released one critically acclaimed album, Jailhouse Doc with Holes in Her Socks, about which Downbeat's Simon Scott says, “Darrell Katz has made a name as an imaginative and innovative composer.”
