Spatial Audio Techniques

Course Number
CMLM-553
Description

Students in this course develop the skills and knowledge necessary to create custom sound design for a variety of multi-channel audio configurations including: ambisonic, quad, oct, 5.1 surround, and Atmos. This project-based course uses research and experimentation to gain a full understanding of the human perception of sound spatialization so that the limits and possibilities of various spatial audio destinations can be fully leveraged in projects that include live DJ performances for many speakers, museum installations for many speakers, seated movie experiences, and head tracking VR experiences.
